Intergrana and environmental sustainability:
We have opted for solar energy

With our company, Intergrana, we have, on the one hand, started carrying out improvements to the production cycle, which will enable us to regularly renew our machines in order to satisfy different types of request and, on the other hand, we have also started taking steps to reduce the environmental impact of our activities.

In 2009 we installed 1,000 m2 of solar panels on the roofs of the two company buildings (in ideal conditions they can achieve a maximum production capacity of 50 kW/h) to meet the energy requirements of our production activities and to reduce the impact on the environment around us.

As entrepreneurs we understand the importance of investing in the solar energy sector and of installing solar energy systems, panels and storage systems that will enable us to produce and consume our own energy even when there is an excessive amount. Indeed, this is how we can achieve energy independence, keep our costs down, reduce the amount we spend on energy per year and have additional resources to devote to innovation and to the development and launch of new products.

We are not unaware of environmental issues. Indeed, we believe that it is our responsibility to commit to using renewable sources of energy in order to reduce the environmental impact of our production activities.

INNOVATIVE FOOD PACKAGING

Our efforts, given that our work relies on the use of plastic packaging, are also aimed at identifying innovative packaging solutions that, on the one hand, ensure that flavour and product integrity are maintained and, on the other hand, minimise the environmental impact of food packaging. Both requirements are met by a type of skin-effect packaging which we use for our Parmibreak  product and which, compared with ‘traditional’ packaging, enables us to reduce the use of plastic by 70%.

FOOD SUSTAINABILITY:
ORGANIC PRODUCT CERTIFICATION

Equally, we are concerned with issues relating to food sustainability. These issues lead us to choose, for our packaging solutions, cheese made with milk and using processes that have a low environmental impact.

In 2017, Intergrana obtained the Ethical and Environmental Certification for the production and packaging of Organic Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. We obtained it from the ICEA Consortium , which operates in the organic farming sector in Italy and Europe, and is actively involved in promoting sustainable development which respects the environment and protects both workers and consumers.

Always with consumers in mind and their right to choose which food to eat, we have produced our own brand of cheese substitute, Forvegan, which does not contain animal products and enables those who follow a vegan diet to enrich their dishes with the rich, intense flavour of cheese.

Intergrana is a green company, which is concerned about the issues relating to environmental and food sustainability: choose sustainable food products.
