SECOND SKIN WITH 70% LESS PLASTIC
To optimise and combine both these needs, we have developed a first for the cheese sector, Second Skin packaging technology which helps reduce the use of plastic by 70% and guarantee unbeatable product storage quality.
100% RECYCLABLE AND COMPOSTABLE/BIODEGRADABLE BAGS
In 2018, we brought in 2 new ecological materials to offer our customers the possibility of reducing their environmental impact and promoting increasingly sustainable and eco-compatible products. The recyclable film can be disposed of among other plastics and is then recycled and reused in any equipped countries. While the compostable film can be disposed of in the compost, once the product is finished, in any countries with industrial composting flows and in accordance with the guidelines in the relevant local council, becoming structuring compost for soil.
ALWAYS IN GOOD HANDS
Intergrana is also very attentive to the issue of food sustainability. In 2017, we achieved Ethical and Environmental Certification for processing and packaging Organic Parmigiano Reggiano, issued by the ICEA consortium, which confirms our work in the field of food sustainability.
1,000 SQM OF SOLAR PANELS
Clean energy for our cheese
In 2009, we installed 1,000 sqm of tracking solar panels on the roofs of our two main buildings.
Thanks to these panels, 50% of the electricity we now use at the company is offset by clean energy. But we are definitely not stopping here: by 2030 we are expecting to be fully self-sufficient in this respect, therefore making an essential contribution to the fight against pollution in our region.
